fountain

In collaboration with Zoé Lakhnati

After spreading the serenity of Slow Show across multiple continents, Dimitri Chamblas embarks on a new performance and pedagogical encounter with young amateurs in collaboration with Zoé Lakhnati.

In fountain, the goal is to make the body murmur at the top of its voice. Each participant absorbs water and gurgles it as a fountain, emitting a plethora of sounds. The act requires you to face the sky, a gesture that connects you to the cosmos as much as it recalls the childlike reflex of gargling contests. This is where the choreographic work asserts itself, organizing the score of the bodies’ sounds and composing the movement in a play of colors. In crafting an ephemeral sculpture, the piece is both a visual and sonic experience, distilled to its essence: listening to oneself as part of a harmonious ensembles.

The performance fountain is aimed to take place in different cities, in passageways where the fleeting gaze may or may not pause and offer a break in the rush of the moment, similar to how urban fountains sometimes provide a moment of stillness, a non-turbulent zone for listening to the gush of water. A place of gathering, of tranquility, a monument that unites, the sound of water bringing serenity.

Dimitri Chamblas and Zoe Lakhnati invite us to the act of slowing down and unfurling the grace of the body within the folds of its mysteries.
