Dimitri chamblas
New CalArts Dance Dean
(June 21, Los Angeles, CA) — California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) announces that Dimitri Chamblas, has been chosen as the new Dean of The Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance. Chamblas was selected after an extensive national and international search, and began his tenure with the start of the 2017 fall semester. He came to CalArts after a prodigious international career as both a performer and choreographer of contemporary dance, as well as a multidisciplinary artist and curator. Chamblas’s expansive practice connects dance to the visual arts, filmmaking, new media, digital production, and architecture. His celebrated career reflects the same experimental ethos and interdisciplinary focus that distinguishes CalArts.
